Our Mission

Our mission at SOLO is to provide a compassionate, safe, and effective support network for the growing number of family caregivers in the United States. The difficulties and stresses placed upon individuals tasked with caring for an elderly and/or debilitated loved one can be overwhelming.

Caregivers often find themselves consumed with not only caring for the physical well-being of others who cannot do so for themselves, but also the emotional and mental wellness of someone whose humanity and autonomy seem to constantly be at odds with the necessity of dependence of another.

SOLO seeks to provide a multitude of curated resources for family caregivers, ranging from information on financial and healthcare resources, to testimonials from caregivers who have developed effective techniques in caregiving, to firsthand information from professionals in various fields as to how to better structure both caregiving and one's own life in order to achieve a better and healthier balance between caregiving and self-care.

In Loving Memory of Da Rue Prieto Doakes

In loving memory of a dear friend whose unwavering support and invaluable contributions were instrumental in the creation of SOLO. Gone too soon, but forever a part of its foundation.
